About us
Hello, we are Harold and Daphne, and with our three children we currently travel Europe.
The two of us combined have resided and worked in Africa for about 25 years and the two eldest children were born in Bethlehem, South Africa.
Between 2015 - 2022 we have been residing in the Netherlands. For the last four years, we have been travelling across Europe, from Norway to Portugal to Croatia.
We are the founders of a Family Trust, named Just Natural Private Trust. The Trust brings together different worlds; cultural backgrounds; skills and experiences.
From Africa, we bring a dose of ingenuity, independence, and self-reliance. We make this concrete by creating a learning and living environment which is as self-sufficient, independent and sustainable as possible. From Europe, we contribute with our historic roots, education, skills and experience.
The Just Natural Private Member Association is open for interested individuals across the globe. Members bring in specific skills, experience and their life energy.
Members can participate in the creation and care for the living- and learning environments; in return, they will have beneficial use of these locations.
Harold
Harold is a master carpenter and furniture maker. In addition, he is a researcher and a passionate all-round craftsman who can create extraordinary works with limited resources, in sub-urban and (extremely) rural settings.
He spent over 18 years in Africa, where he worked for the film industry (set building); as a lighting technician (for a popular South African band); and as an entrepreneur in the production of high-end kitchens and interiors.
Furthermore, he trained young people from the townships, provided on-the-job learning, organized workshops, and set up production lines for sustainable wooden toys, where these youth learned to use various tools and machines. Moreover, toys are essential in a childs' development, such as cognitive problem-solving skills, motor skills, language acquisition, and social-emotional regulation.
Harold is a highly-sensitive individual, who, from a young age, has preferred his intuition; his feelings and the energies he experiences. He enjoys observing his surroundings, and always wonders why things are the way they are.
In his personal quest for better health, he has found that nutrition and lifestyle are not so much about what is good or bad, but about everything being more in balance. And what is balance then? This is different for everybody.
Daphne
Daphne is a trained sociologist and, in her daily life, a project manager and connector. She enjoys supporting individuals and organizations in realizing their plans through process facilitation, strategy development, and securing funding.
Her first job was at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, but after a short period, she moved to research funder NWO. She contributed to the internationalization of Dutch science by organizing coordination between funders at the European level. In this role, she worked closely with the Dutch government, the European Commission, and the European Science Foundation.
In 2009, she quit her job to settle in Northern Malawi with Harold. She founded the non-governmental organisation Mughogho Woodlife foundation and established Woodlife Center for Craftsmanship to promote vocational education and entrepreneurship in Africa. Meanwhile, their first two children were born.
After repatriating to the Netherlands in 2015, Daphne worked as a senior consultant for the consultancy firm Birch Consultants until 2020. A third child was born. Since 2020, she has been an independent entrepreneur (Gewoon Puur). After completing various legal training courses she founded Just Natural Private Trust in 2023.
